Radio Station
Our public radio station, WICR-FM
(88.7), is a noncommercial public radio station with a 30,000-watt
equivalency transmitted from a 1,000-foot tower. A paid student
management team is responsible for daily broadcasting (9 a.m. to
4 p.m.) 365 days a year. WICR has a strong association with the
Peabody Award-winning Fine Arts Society of Indianapolis and broadcasts
a variety of arts, music, and news programs.
Television Studio
Our television studio broadcasts satellite-delivered programming
over public access cable television stations in Indianapolis. Electronic
media students produce a news-magazine program featuring discussions
of current issues and events. Each semester, you'll be involved
in developing audiences and developing programs accordingly.
Newspaper
The Reflector,
our campus newspaper, is designed, written, and managed by a paid
student staff in a 16-station Mac-equipped newsroom. Published every
two weeks, it has won numerous awards.
Journalism students and newspaper staff members have access to
the Metro Source wire service with computer editing capabilities.
Staff photographers, as well as photojournalism students, have access
to digital cameras, and slide and flat bed image scanners.
Speech Team
Our national championship speech team travels all over the United
States. For students who compete on the team during each of their
undergraduate years, international competition is a possibility.
Recently two of our students competed in London.
